Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Where are the closest hiking, quad, or 4x4 trails.

A.  Access to trails is located adjacent to the campground.

Q. Do you have a pool or hot tub?

A.  Yes, the pool has a new Heliocol solar heating system that's
supposed to keep the temp at 75 degrees and the hot tub is open
all year around.

Q.  Are you close to a lake and is there fishing?

A.  We are 30 minutes away from Lake Pleasant Regional Park
which has fishing as well as boating facilities.

Q.  Do you have fire pits or firewood for sale?

A.  With regard to local fire regulations and the extreme danger of
wild fires, open wood fires are only allowed in fully enclosed,
raised, screened fire container with lid.  We have them for rent ($5)
and if you need wood there is an additional charge of $4. However,
charcoal grilling and cooking with propane are allowed and many
of our sites have permanent charcoal grills.  Those that do not we
can easily supply with a portable charcoal grill.

Q.  How close are you to shopping?

A.  Outlet shopping is 13 miles south of the campground.

Q.  Are there any good places to eat in Black Canyon City?

A.  We have excellent restaurants in town and have sample menu's
available in the camp store for your inspection.

Q.  Do you have Wifi?

A.  Yes, we have a state of the art CheckBox system that can
handle 50 computers simultaneously. We need to issue you an
access code for the length of your stay.

Q.  Do you have a laundry?

A.  Yes, it is located in the main building and is accessed through
the gift shop and also has an entrance in the front of the building.
Access is available 24 hours a day.

Q.  How do you get to the campground?

A.  I-17 to exit 242, turn east at the top of the ramp.  Turn East and
you will almost immediately see a sign that says "Frontage Road /
Camping" in front of you. Follow the road one half mile and turn
right at the large KOA sign,  follow the road to your first left and
around to the main building and you're there.

Q.  What is your elevation?

A.  2024 feet according to GPS, USGS, and engineering drawings
of the property.

Q.  Do you get snow?

A.  Very rarely, we are at too low an elevation to get "real" snow.
When it has snowed it is considered a "dusting" and not around
long enough to register an accumulation.

Q.  How is the park for star gazing?

A.  We keep the outside lights dim so that on the really clear nights
that there is no moon you will be able to see the band of stars
known as the "Milky Way".  We also publish a list of the best dates
for viewing meteor showers.

Q.  How accessible are you to Phoenix and the surrounding area?

A.  We are 25 miles north of the 101 loop, a 40 minute drive to
Scottsdale, an hour from Sedona, all accessible from I-17.  For a
day trip to the Grand Canyon we're 3 to 3.5 hours away.  We are a
great jump off point to all of central Arizona.

Q.  How long can we stay at the campground?

A. We cater to our campers.  You can stay a night, a few days,
weeks, months or years.  We will work with you to get the best
pricing available whatever your stay.  We have campers who are
moving into the area for work and are looking for the right home
and need a place during their transition.  Others go to school and
work at the same time and we have retirees who are here all year
long.  Our international guests use us a jump off point to the Grand
Canyon and to get used to the time change.  Whatever your
reason, we are here to make your stay enjoyable.
